Founder
Tacan Reynar
Lawyer · Former Senior Judge · Legal Professional
Tacan Reynar graduated from the Faculty of Law at Eastern Mediterranean University in 2004. He completed an LL.M. in Public Law at the same university in 2007 with a thesis entitled “Relations and the Resolution of Disputes between Federal and Federated Governments in Federations”. He taught Constitutional and Administrative Law at EMU Faculty of Law.
In 2010, he was appointed as a judge by the TRNC Supreme Council of Judicature. He served in civil, family, probate, employment, tax, maritime and criminal matters at the Nicosia, Famagusta and Lefke District Courts. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Senior Judge at the Nicosia Criminal Court.
He left the judiciary in 2018 and returned to legal practice and consultancy. His principal fields of practice and research include public law, criminal law, human rights, media law, comparative constitutional systems, federalism and dispute resolution. He has continued to provide training in law and politics since 2019.
He completed legal studies in Toronto, Canada, during 2022–2023, as well as selected programmes concerning the rule of law, politics, human rights and international criminal law offered by the University of London, Yale, Harvard, Leiden and Pennsylvania.
